About Me :

My name is Brian Reeve and I currently teach social studies at Wakefield High School in Wake county North Carolina.  I have been a teacher in Wake County Public Schools for roughly 2 years and plan on retiring here.  I have also spent time in the Marines and working in law enforcement.

In 1996, I stepped off a bus onto the Marine Corps Recruiting Depot in Paris Island S.C.  I did not realize at the time what a life changing experience this would be for me.  In the Marine Corps my primary job was infantry, but I spent the bulk of my time in Washington, D.C., at 8th and I Marine Barracks, which supports both ceremonial and security missions in the nation's capital.  I obtained the rank of sergeant and became the Body Bearers Platoon Guide.  The Body Bearer Section is a unit within Bravo Company, one of the ceremonial drill companies at Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C.  The section is comprised of 15 Marine infantrymen whose primary mission is to conduct funerals for Marines, former Marines and Marine family members at Arlington National Cemetery and the surrounding cemeteries in the Washington, D.C., area.

Upon leaving the Marine Corps in 2000, I became a Detention Officer for the Iredell County Sheriff’s Department.  I rose to the rank of Corporal and was placed in charge of over 200 pretrial detainees within the detention facility.  This job was dangerous and very often unrewarding but I learned communication skills that were critical to survival and that still assist me today in my current capacity as a teacher.

In 2003 I decided to make another life change that would turn out to be the second best decision of my life.  I began my education at Wake Technical Community College and after two years transferred to North Carolina State University.  I graduated from NCSU in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a social studies teaching license.  In that same year I landed in my current position as a social studies teacher for Wakefield High, where I plan to stay until they close the doors on me.

Thank you to:

Van Murray (Accent Plus, Inc.) is the reason why this site even exists and without him I would still be trying to figure out how to change the background color.  Van has continued to be a great friend and has proven to be a great asset to the web development community.
